Tomorrows stage of 198km of fast paced racing from Olonne-Sur-Mer to Redon sees the peloton head out of Vendée, the home of the Tour since Wednesday and into Brittany. The seaside resort of Olonne-Sur-Mer welcomes the Tour for the first time this year, its varied scenery providing a backdrop that is sure to provide some excellent opportunities for artistic shots as the peloton rolls out and into Brittany.
Brittany seems an apt setting for what could be a British showdown. With Cavendish eager to show what HTC-Highroad can do when lady luck sets her eyes towards France-as his girlfriend requested via twitter earlier this evening, after today's mishap saw Bernie Eisel hit the deck-and Sky's Ben Swift still eager to show that Cavendish isn't the only British sprinter on the Tour, we could see some fantastic action at the finish.
Sitting on the borders between Brittany and the Loire, the humble town of Redon, also making its début as a stage town, is just 2 and a half hours from Paris; for a certain Spaniard this may be all too poignant an echo as his dreams of winning the Tour for a third time are so near and yet may now be so far.
